Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
