Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
