Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
