Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
