Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
