Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
