Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 well arranged goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
