Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And chosen goblets. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
