Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
