Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
