Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
