Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
