Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
