Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And chosen goblets. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
