Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
