Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
