Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
