Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
