Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
