Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
