Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets laid out, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
