Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
