Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
