Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
