Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
