Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
