Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
