Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
