Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
