Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
