Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
