Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
