Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
