Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
