Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
