Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
