Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets set, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
