Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
