Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
