Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
