Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
