Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
