Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
