Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
