Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
