Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
