Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
