Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
