Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
