Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
